Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC Unveiled with 5G Modem, Improved AI Performance

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 would support a new Qualcomm ultrasonic fingerprint sensor Qualcomm on Tuesday unveiled the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, the first new generation of mobile phone processor chips that will power 5G smartphones in the United States as soon as next year. The key feature of the Snapdragon 855 chip, launched at an event in Hawaii, is the 5G Snapdragon X50 modem for phones to connect to 5G wireless data networks with "multi-gigabit" mobile data speeds of up to 50 to 100 times faster than current 4G networks. Qualcomm, the largest supplier of mobile phone chips, said Snapdragon 855 would power Samsung 5G smartphones that Verizon Communications and Samsung said on Monday would be released in the United States in the first half of 2019. OnePlus 5G Capable Smartphone will Arrive in Early 2019 and will not be the OnePlus 7

OnePlus has already confirmed that the company will launch a 5G-enabled smartphone next year. However, apart from the tentative launch schedule, the company has not shared any details about the device. Now it’s being said that OnePlus’ 5G smartphone will be a part of a new series with a new name and a new design. A OnePlus spokesperson told a Spanish version of CNET that  its 5G smartphone will be a different device and it has nothing to do with the OnePlus 7. It means the OnePlus 6T s uccessor will not support 5G connectivity. The company said that the 5G handset will be a part of a new lineup that will offer the all-new design language.
